Thanks to generous startup funding from the Vicksburg Foundation, we have started a small senior center in the Vicksburg United Methodist Church! The South County Senior Center for Active Living is open to anyone 55 years of age or better and focuses on bringing opportunities for socialization and other senior programming to the South County area. We are currently running programs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

TUESDAYS

  • Chair Yoga 9:00-9:45 AM, Free
  • Walking Group 10:00-10:45 AM (meet indoors at VUMC, beginning in October), Free
  • Beginner Pickleball 1:00-2:00 PM, Free

WEDNESDAYS

  • Cardio Drumming 12:00-12:45 PM (Registration Required*), Free

THURSDAYS

  • South County Stitchers 1:30-4:30 PM, Free
  • FUNctional Fitness 2:00-2:45 PM, Free

SPECIAL EVENTS

  • Area Agency on Aging (AAA3A) –  11/20, 12/18, 11 AM – 2 PM, Free
    • A representative from the Kalamazoo AAA3A, will be onsite every 3rd Thursday of the month to provide information, referrals or assistance for aging at home. Walk-ins are welcome.
  • BINGO – 11/12, 4-5 PM, Free
    • Join your fellow Senior Center Community Members for our 1st BINGO Event!
    • Brian Penny will be your Emcee!
    • Prizes and light refreshments will be offered.
  • Lunch & Learn: Don’t let Scammers Steal Your Holiday Cheer: Tips to Shop Smart and Stay Safe Online – 11/18, 12-1 PM, Free
    • Troy Baker, VP of Strategic Partnerships and Market Expansion with the Better Business Bureau, will help you become more savvy online.
    • Bring a sack lunch for yourself, light refreshments will be provided.
  • Free Concert: Kalamazoo Concert Brass – 11/18, 6-7 PM, Free
    • Seasoned Musicians from the Kalamazoo area will perform a selection of music leaning into jazz, blues, classical and contemporary.
